This is going to be an arduous journey, filled with a whole lot of danger. In fact, the likely-hood of me dying before I finish this task is pretty high. Having said all of that, I don't care. I'm not afraid of death. I'm much more afraid of living an unfulfilled life. My biggest fear is to be an old man on my death bed and having to "face my maker" with nothing but regrets of things I COULD have done, but didn't. So... here goes my four to five-year plan...
I intend to depart on my "Around-The-World" trip from New York City on a set date(yet to be determined). I will start by swimming the Atlantic Ocean from New York to somewhere in Portugal or Spain. I should be able to reach Europe in under a year.
Once I reach Europe, I will take a week or two to rest and re-stock supplies. I'll then hand-cycle through Europe, the Mid-East and Asia. I will ride through some dangerous places, but I don't anticipate too much trouble. Never the less, I intend on having some body guards along for the ride, just in case. The goal is to get to Tokyo (Japan), just have to figure out the best route.
I was going to swim the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Hawaii, but due to the radiation from Fukushima, I'm going to kayak it instead. I estimate this to take about year. Once I reach Hawaii, I will again rest, then hop back into the Pacific and kayak the rest of the way to Los Angeles.
Then I'll get back into my hand-cycle, and ride from Los Angeles to New York. This will be the shortest part of the entire trip. I don't anticipate it to take longer than a few months.
You can view the world map below. The red hi-light will show you my intended route, with the blue start/finish point at New York City.

What do I hope to accomplish by putting myself through this kind of physical and mental hell?
One thing I certainly would like to do is bring a positive message to the world. The message is simple... "One step/stroke/pedal at a time." I see a world that desperately needs some positive news, and I'd like to be a small light of hope into that direction.
The second thing (and maybe even more important than the first), is to raise at least $100 million for many different charities, not just in the US, but around the world. I'd like to help as many people as possible.
Please feel free to contact Attila if you have any questions, or if you'd like to get involved either as a sponsor, wish to donate or would like to be a part of the crew. Since this is going to be a long-term mission, there's going to be rollover of the staff. We don't expect anyone to be along for the entire trip.
